The Technology Learning Initiative “Next Technology Leaders” (NTL), is an new initiative that was launched by H.E. President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to build capacity of young calibers on the latest information and communications technologies (ICT) and Electronics. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) leads executing the NTL Initiative through the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency.
The NTL objectives can be summarized as follows:

  • Building capacity and certifying young calibers on the recent advances in communication and information technologies.
  • Increasing the competitiveness of local ICT companies by facilitating their training and capacity building plans.
  • Supporting creation of job and business opportunities for the youth through wage employment, freelancing, or startup establishment.
  • Forming nationwide mentoring and review networks in leading technologies to act as platform for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
The courses cover emerging technology areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things, .. etc. As well as business-related areas like strategic management, business model innovation, .. etc.
The distinctive content of the courses is prepared through the collaborative effort of top universities and leading companies, and is made available on globally leading MOOC platforms such as: Coursera, edX, and Udacity.

Only the tracks that are found in the track page will be funded.
Courses start according to their time on the providers websites. Some courses are archived and some have a start date. Learners need to register at least one month before the start date as selection and interview process takes at least one month from registration.

In most courses, learners will have to finish in less than 6 months of time.

The eligibility criteria is that the learner be:

  • Egyptian.
  • Graduated in 2006 or after.
  • A high degree in ICT/Electronics specialization.

This initiative is keen to select learning tracks, which are alligned with the national competence framework of ITIDA. Currently the following four tracks are aligned with the needs of NCF:

  • Front-End Web Developer Nanodegree (Udacity), which is for the Web Designer Job Role in the NCF.
  • Full Stack Web Developer Nanodegree (Udacity),  which is for the Full Stack Developer Job Role in the NCF.
  • Android Basics Nanodegree (Udacity), which is for the Mobile Application Engineer Job Role in the NCF

More courses will be announced aligned with NCF needs in the coming period.
